The latest on buildings and renewable energy

The UK has legally binding targets to substantially increase the amount of renewable energy it uses and to significantly cut its CO2 emissions within the next decade.

As a result policies that will require buildings to have an increasing amount of onsite renewable energy are being introduced, such as the requirement for new buildings to be zero carbon, which the new government recently reconfirmed, and the progressive tightening of Building Regulations.

These are starting to take effect, with it proposed that Building Regulations will tighten in October this year to require all new buildings to have 25% lower CO2 emissions than currently required.

At the same time new financial incentives for renewable energy, such as the Feed-in Tariff (FITs) and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), if introduced, mean that onsite renewables now provide an attractive Return on Investment (RoI), radically transforming the economics of onsite renewables.

To qualify for these incentives you have to use a renewable energy installer certificated under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The seminar will include an exhibition of MCS installers from around the region.

Attend this event for the latest information and intelligence on renewable energy and buildings, including:

·         information on the policy requirements and the new financial incentives, including an update on announcements from the new government,

·         the latest on which renewable energy solutions are suitable at which scale and type of development,

·         news on the development of a new regional training package for onsite renewables, and

·         an opportunity to meet the onsite renewables supply chain.
